    Howdy,

I am removing the vacuum wiper motor and installing electric. I would like to use the same hole for the on/off switch and install a switch that looks like the original one. The after market switches look like crap with the plastic knobs and a wiper logo etched on it.

I have about worn out my mouse wandering through the internet looking for a single pole double throw switch. The switches that I find all have the nut on both sides of the dash unlike the original and stick up in the air and are ugly.

So being the clever person that I am I decided to remove the knob from the original switch and install on the new. The old knob is pressed onto the shaft and does not have a set screw to lock it to the shaft. So installing a new switch will require attempting to drill and tap for a set screw. The only problem is the knob does not have any square/flat surfaces to hold it with to be able to drill and tap it. So back to ugly!!

    Anyone have a better idea??

Check Russ' thread (ol' chebby) for the way to do it, here is what I did following Russ' lead

I went out and took new photos of the interior as it now is, there is a different fan and different turn indicator. You can still see the electrical wiper switch.

I looked all through the sticky note on how to assemble an AD and did not see anything about the addition of an electric switch for the wiper motor. Did I miss it? Maybe I am losing my sight along with my mind!!

Do you know which page it may be on?

I'm not shure where it is either. I took the origional knob, drilled through the flat on the opposite of the handle with a very small bit and inserted teh set screw from the ugly plastic knob. I used some JB weld to make the round hole fit to the one flat side of the switch, then oriented the switch so the set screw hits the flat and points to the windsheild so it isn't seen.
