[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-04 AT 11:32 PM (CST)]i am in the process of swapping 3 on tree to 350 turbo, i want to use the original column for this swap, i am hoping to connect a linkage to one of the original arms on the column, but my problem is finding the shift linkage that will go from column to tranny, i would like to know if one is avaliable or if anyone has a pic of one so i can fabricate one, any help would be appreciated. it is a 66 chevy stepside with a 250,
You can get that type of linkage from Lokar's. BUT, you will have a difficult time getting it to work on the manual shift column. I'm not positive you actually can get it to work. Two options: Get an automatic column, OR get a turbo 350 floor shifter. Dennis
do not use that column or when you got that thing settin and running the vibration will shake the lever and it will fall in to gear and take off on you there are not any locks in that column to keep it in one specific gear the other gentleman has it right you will need an automatic column or a floor shift set up:+
that being said will a newer model column fit, i have an automatic column for a late 70 early 80 model chevy truck, thanks for the replies , ive been working a while trying to get this truck back on the road, all i have left is getting the shifter problem taken care of and the drive shaft
you will want to measure that column i am sure that it will work but you need to see how long it is going to be to make sure it looks right and every thing will function properly
D,On a 64 Suburban I had until recently & changed from 3 speed to automatic...I found that a column tube with turn signal switch & shift lever from a mid seventies van fit my original shaft. You might want to give this a try.Tom c
