been trying to work this out for a couple of days and am now getting frustrated- i installed a new ez wire block and harrness in the 51. all wires are connected according instructions and work fine when power is applied directly ie- headlight switch the problem- fuses on most acc are popping after operating them for a short time. ie- the blinker works on right side for 4 or 5 blinks then switch to left and blew fuse. but power windows work fine. as well as pusher fan(wired to elc. fuel pump circ.) the interior light comes on when cranking the truck but then goes off when the truck starts( switch is on) if it was one accesory i would think it was a ground but i am now baffeled.before i pull appart all the wire loom anybody have any ideas. it would be greatly appreciated. thanks for any ideas Joe
As for the blinker, check your wiring in the unit...the harness has nothing to do with that. The dome light circuit should not be connected to the key, EZ usually has it as accessory power, then in our trucks, you have to flip the switch.
I'd bet your fuse block takes fuses with the two spades. On the old glass tube type fuses they made breakers in various amp ratings that fit right in where a fuse did. I'd put the breaker in and let it go till something got hot and there was the problem. Had to play with the amp ratings till one would cycle slow enough to heat things up but not fry anything. Wouldn't use this method for things like instruments and radio. Also pull the fuse block and let it hang free while you try everything, this eliminates any grounding in the mounting. We make most of our own harnesses and use a Chevy LUV/Isusu fuse block so every wire can be traced and tested individually. Saves a lot of headaches and each wire is exactly the length and gauge it needs to be.
Thanks Evan- that seemed to eliminate most of my problems. any thought on the dome light thing that really has me confused. by the way that tool for the window channel worked great, simple and easy- Thanks Joe
