Working on my 66 and trying to get the seat adjuster to work. I have the lever on the driver's side but that's it. I don't have the connecting rod or the springs/mechanism for the passenger side rail. Anyone know where these can be purchased? The local yards only have new vehicles so that's not much help. thanks in advance.
Bob if you can`t seen to find one which will be wrecking yard or donor truck, as far as I know nobody repops them, use some all thread, with a turn buckle in the center for finale adjustment, you should be able to find a spring at your local Lowes or Home depot to work as well.
Seat Adjuster Rod It's just a long , thin round rod that's bent up on each end , some years have a cute little flat stamped steel clip and sort round compression spring to hold it all to - gether . Most folks just make up a long rod to suit . I highly suggest removeing the seat , flipping it over and removing both adjusters , clean and de grease them then wire brush and lubricate with white grease until it slides easily back nd forth when you pull the lever , then re - install and work up a rod , as I like to store crap under my bench seat , I always use a hog ring to hold the rod to the seat springs about 1/2 way across , else every time someone shoves a thing uder the seat the rod will be popped loose . You only need the retrcting spring on the driver's side of the seat , most junkyard trucks up through the 1980's will render up useable rod and retraction spring .
Adjuster Rod They prolly are the same up to at least 1971 , I ran across an old homemade one I took out of my '69 C/10 this afternoon .
