I have a 1960 C-10 Fleetside with a Chevy 350 and an unknown 4 speed manual transmission. At 55 mph I'm turning almost 3000 rpm. I would like
to make it a bit more highway friendly. I'm considering a 700R4 or a late model 5 speed manual. What would be a good 5 speed to look for? Thank You

In the mid 80's chevy used a 4 speed tranny where 4th gear was an overdrive. They were made by New Process and are frequently available on Ebay. I just bought one for my 66.

Do a search on "Overdrive transmission". About every three weeks one pops up. There is one rebuilder that has them regularly on Ebay. These were built by New Process and were available about 82 through 86.
