    What's the deal here ? they're in a different place on the block of my 292 than they are on the old 250 .

    Anyone ? .

    yes. I think its the passenger side where the fuel pump mount and the motor mount change location.

    there are other details related to it as well. like spacers between the mount and the block, the metal mount, not the rubber mount is also different and because the mount on the passenger side is further back the frame mount is different. parts from a 73 and later 292 will work but you gotta find one that is complete. 292 harmonic balancers dont grow on trees either

    As it turned out ,

    I found a complete '66 292 for $150 , all it was missing is the frame side mounts , I missed a $10 pair in Pick - A - Part but scored a pair from a good guy for $40 so I'm good to go .

    I plan to overhaul this engine before I pop it in .
