My '49 has blinkers mounted below the headlights. Added after the fact judging from the wiring, and I thought I read that blinkers were not standard until '54.

Anyway, anybody have any ideas were to get some sockets like this?

    All the lenses are good.

They look like GMC front lamps to me. Check the usual catalogs...

    Here's my 3 cents!

Your directional signals in the front and back are definitely a P.O. after thought! You've got the perfect setup right now to make your existing lights work for you. Install dual contact sockets in your existing parking lights in the grille and do the same in your tailights. Then wire your turn signals into the new sockets. Piece of cake for an electrician;) Replace the existing relay and you're good to go!

I had though about that, but what holes in the front fenders from the existing lights?

As Bill Hanlon says, "Maybe a little bondo"? Here's something you might try! Remove one of them and soak the entire unit in vinegar! It's one of the best agents to dissolve rust. After you've soaked it for a day, take an old toothbrush and scrub it. You should be able to disassemble it and see what needs to be replaced. You might be able to use the original housing, replace the socket and then rewire it for use as a directional. Have fun with it!

I bought front signal lights from our host for a '56 GMC to install in mine. I'm not a stickler for originality, though.

You should be able to cannibalize some truck stop or trailer lights for the sockets, then adapt them in the housings.

I had the same problem. My park lights up front were just the single socket as well. I tore out the old single socket and replaced it with a dual contact conversion. Welded in the new sockets, wired them up and now I have turn signals in the park lights:)

I believe this is what I got.

Also, my flasher was shot. Took me a while to figure that out. I should have started with that. Anyway, you might pick one up while you are at it as well. They are cheap

The lights are fine where they are, look better there than on top of the finders as some.

Note that he also has round parking lights on the front fenders, like the GMCs. I believe that was what he was asking about...

Make sure you put SWMBO's toothbrush back in the bathroom when you are finished with it.

    Another Manly truck wanna-be...
Could be GMC fenders with a Chevy hood/grill...
If you have questions about this, PM brit50. He has the same problem... ;)

Just get new GMC everything, and you'll be good to go.

Some old timer putting turn lights up on a finder or on the front of the fender is not envy. People wanting to change front ends at the truck shows but, they are changing to Chevy not G

I'll stick with the G... I think this thread was highjacked.

I do believe I'll be looking into that third eye thing. And three point seat belts.
