I assume Chevy and GMC had the same rear cab mounts? I am finally getting ready to make this a done deal, but I was wondering if there is supposed to be any rubber between the underside of the cab and the mounting bracket? If there was rubber, what would you suggest I use since none came with the rear mount rebuild kit offered by our host? TIA Paul
Many thanks, Russ! Now I can go make it solid~ And we just happen to have b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l weather to get some work done!
My rear cab mounts had shims on the 'cab side' of the mount, nothing under the 'frame side.' I'm guessing this was done at the factory... thoughts? Damon
Planning on it, Russ. I just wondered if this was done at the factory to aid in getting the body gaps even... or done later on if a truck was wrecked and needed repaired. I didn't see any mention of the shims in your write up. Thanks for the thoughts! Damon
I have never come across shims, but that doesn't mean they never had them...... or that they couldn't have been added.
http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1954truck/54ctsm0102.html Your right Step 9 Shims were used if needed to obtain the measurements in step 9. Step 11 also calls for shims if needed at front cab support.
