We got a real deal on some thousand foot rolls of fine strand insulated 14g wire----all white. Our leftover spray can rack must have 50 cans on it and 20 or so are distinctly different from each other. Aerosol paint penetrates the wires sheathing and will not flake or peel off. This gave 20 different colors to use which isn't enough for some projects. By clamping a washer in the vise and dragging the painted wire through the washers center hole it scrapes off a line and doubles your wire supply because instead of having say a plain blue wire you now have a blue wire with a white stripe.

Next thing you know Evan will be running drained oil through his socks and re-using it. :p

Good idea. I often paint ground wires black that weren't already. Especially in the car audio business, where there is lots of red heavy guage, but not so much black.

Dammit, now my wife will know why one sock is so much blacker than the other.

    Very creativ!!

    Evan,

that´s a great idea, very often you don´t get the right color, when your browsing through the local e-shops.

I have to try this, hopefully our automotive spray paint does the same thing
and penetrates the wire isolation as good as yours:)

Thank you for this handy tip.
