I am in the process of relocating my tank under the bed, I would like to see pictures where fellow truck enthuses have relocated their filler necks or just the picture of the stock relocation.

1st is stock location 2nd where I am thinking of the relocated placement?

    Bill,

I got a good look of your undercarrage from the photos of the damage, what type tank did you used? And I take it you had to relocate the rear corss member brace? Good luck finding a truck.

The tank was from a mid-80s Mazda B2300 pickup. I just wandered through a junk yard with a measuring tape until I found a tank that would fit in the frame behind the rear axle without any cutting, although I did have some brackets welded to the frame to hang the tank from. Tank only held about 14 gallons, not great range for a Pontiac V8 with Hydra-Matic.

Once I got the tank mounted I mocked up the fill tube using 1/4" copper tubing. Took the tubing to an old time muffler shop that does a lot of the hot rod work around here and told the tech that he needed to match the tubing bends using 1.5" stainless exhaust pipe. Took him about 15 minutes. Used some fuel rated 1.5" hose on each end to connect to the filler and the tank.

    Fuel Filler

Driver's side , between fender and bumper for safety reasons ~ I've seen far too many under fender filler necks get tangled up with road debris or ripped clean off when a tire blows @ speed  .

Agreed , have your Indie Muffler Guy make up the neck , they'll usually do better than the factory filler necks .

I prefer the filer neck with the vent pipe up top , not so much a tank top vent .
