    Hi Everyone..

My appologies for posting this question twice. I tried to change the subject line in the first posting several times but it would not change. So here is the original posting with the corrected Subject Line:

I am in the process of re-building a Chevy 292 straight Six for my pickup. My previous Chevy 250 was Orange in color down to the original coat which made me believe that all of them were Orange. Low and behold.. here come a 292 and its blue.. not the normal Chevy blue but a Turquoise kind of blue. I check with a friend and he stated the 292s had their own blue color.

This leads me to question "What color and where do I find it?" I know it doesn't match the "Chevy Blue" or the "Chevy Corporate Blue"

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.. Russ

I had the same problem years ago when I rebuilt my 292. When I went to the local engine rebuilder to buy my rings, bearings, etc they had an engine paint display with the exact correct color in aerosol cans. The dealer may carry it as well. You are right, it is a funny color.

Not sure this will help much. No paint codes, but for what it's worth...

Thank you Greg.. At least I know I am not the only one who ran into this problem. I will check with a few Engine rebuilders..

Thanks to DVal too. Your link stated all the engine colors and to my surprise, it states the 292 was green. When I scrolled down some more I found the following:

"292 Green can be obtained through Krylon, paint #2013, known as GM Alpine Green or Detroit Diesel Green"

Thanks again for all the help!!!

Yup, I saw that too. It made me think that you may not have a 292. Better check the block casting numbers to verify that is in fact a 292.

    Hey DVal..

I looked at the color on the parts that didn't have too much grease on them.. yea.. you could say it looks a little green.

I know it is a 292 because of the tall covers on the side and the fuel pump is in the middle of the block, not up front like a 250 etc..

Thanks again for your help.. I found the paint and ordered it today..
