I am looking for an original shifter cane for my 4-speed - SM 420. I have looked at the new shifters from Novak, and would prefer the original style. If anyone has a one that they are will to sell, or if you know of a source that might deal in old SM 420 parts, please let me know. Thanks

    Muncie Shifter

Muncie still makes this popular item new but here's the rub :

It no longer has the same bend in it , you're supposed to have the Shop Welder heat it and band it to suit as they made millions and millions of the 420 trannies for GMC , CHEVROLET , Dodge and some weird Brand 'F' trucks for over 20 years so there's myriad different bends possible for the same shift lever .

I'm pretty sure I have the hard to find 420 lid with reverse light switch built into it , shifter too but I'm too far away .

Anyone wants to come to L.A.and match it up , it'll be dead cheap .

Hey Glenn, went to Kelly's yesterday morning and got my shifter. Thanks for the tip. He charged me a grand total of $10 for it! Great guy. He has a a row of about 20 AD's sitting there in different stages of parting out. Lots of good hoods, and several good cabs. Looks like most of the beds and rear fenders have already been parted out. He has about 10 SM 420's still in the trucks. Again, thanks for the tip!

Hey Nate. I sent a PM. I am interested in the 420 lid if you still have it. I'm in LA near LAX.

    Thanks

    Help!!!

Hey Nate, I was wondering iffin you could get a picture of the switch mounted to the lid. I would love to rig up a backup switch instead of using a toggle. I had a toggle on my 64 and would invariably forget to turn it off. Not a good thing to do!
Many thanks if you could get around to that!
