i almost lost the old girl today after an apparent leak in the gas line found the garage heater! its a good thing the truck is made of steel - no plastic. i drove it out of the garage and put snow on it until the gas - i had just put in the tank - drained out and burned.
I'm glad to hear you got the fire out quick. There doesn't appear to be major damage done to the truck. Glad you're ok, too, of course. I've seen it many times where a person gets their vehicle back from a repair shop, or they've just completed a repair themselves... only to have their transportation go up in smoke. We responded to an alarm for a pick-up truck on fire once several years ago... from over a block away we could see the glow reflecting off of buildings next to the lot where the truck was parked. That thing was toast. The guy said his buddy had just tuned up the carburetor for him. Ouch. Glad you're ok. Damon
Wow, glad to hear you and the truck made it out OK. As you mentioned, if this was a new truck with all the rubber, plastic the results wouldn't have been this good.
the thing just kept pouring gas and flames out the bottom after the gas line burnt off and when flames started to come out of the gas cap. some nearby snow used to cool the bottom of the cab and water poured in the tank and ten minutes later she was out. a little bit of excitement on an otherwise lazy Saturday afternoon.
Whew ! Glad you're O.K. , glad you didn't panic and let it burn the house & garage down too , most would have . "When in danger , or in doubt , run in circles , scream and shout " .
