A lot of older people do not want their truck lowered but like the idea of improved brakes/steering/and ride. All the MII kits I have seen lower a truck by quite a bit so our cure is to lower the crossmember which raises the truck back to near factory stance. The frame is UPSIDE DOWN in the photos. The first picture shows the gap, about 3 1/2", between the frame and the saddle where the frame originally was welded to the crossmember. Odd shaped filler pieces are cut from 10g plate to fill the bottom (top in pictures) of frame to original saddles and then a rectangular piece that runs from the new crossmember location to the top of the frame is welded in which has the crossmember attached to three sides of the frame: bottom, inside, and outside. Sway bar links are made up that are as much longer as the crossmember is lowered. Of course the younger guys in the shop have tears in their eyes at the very thought of RAISING ANYTHING. I seldom mig weld any steering or suspension piece but close inspection will show the POS Heidt's is mig welded so it's much faster and what can it hurt?

That's awesome, Evan! I'm pretty sure Nate's wheels are spinning!

With a higher center of gravity I would definately use a sway bar.

    Sweet !

All it needs now is a nice L6 engine mated to a four speed slushbox & some 16" steel wheels to keep the old men happy..... :D .

    Good job Evan .
