Hey Bilbo, I have my truck on jacks to begin partial resto in order to drive it, glad u enjoyed pics,

Hey Zig, that hood ornament was awesome but not for sale.. I asked the owner wher he got it from - said at a swap meet and to just keep looking. Im afraid if I had one like that she may fly away....lol.

Hey blueflame, that gal was posing at several cars for a calendar pinup, all these chics were dressed in fifties garb with the makeup and hairdoos. It was really nice and kinda took you back in time.

glad you guys enjoyed pics....shoulda taken more but ran outta time./

Great shots, Carlos! I really like the look of those door signs, when the are aged like here.

Seems the AD?s in used looks are picking up in popularity ?:)

Thanks Elky, I agree with you on the door signs, to me its a work of art that's specific display to each truck.

Thanks for sharing the photos... some great trucks and lovely scenery there!

Can anyone identify the hood ornament on the light blue pick-up in the first two photos? That appears to be a match for the hood ornament that was on my Grandpa's truck, of which I'm building a clone. I've looked and looked and haven't been able to find a match for what was on the truck, but this is the closest I've seen so far.

    Thanks in advance.

    Texas must be dry...

There were so many cars and trucks in really great shape. Texas is tough on paint but easy on rust rot like we get further north. Looked like a fun day.:D

    Hey Damon,

I saw two of these hood ornaments at the swap meet and almost bought one for my truck at 80.00 bucks...when i came back around it was gone! however, my brother and I are gonna be at the Pate swap meet near dallas at the end of the month and I will keep an eye out for you if interested.

    thanks,

    Carlos.

    Carlos,

Yes, please keep me in mind. I'm still not sure that's the same hood ornament as the one on my Grandpa's truck, but it looks very similar. Hopefully I can figure it out soon.

    Damon,

Have you checked out the filling station, fillingstation.com, they usually have items like the hood ornaments, they carry a pretty good listing of reproduction parts for GMC and Chevys both cars and trucks.

Yes, I've been all over looking for a match. The bad thing is, the only photo of my Grandpa's truck that I have to work off of doesn't really show the hood ornament that well. From what I can tell, the closest one I've seen so far (besides the one pictured on the light blue truck at the top of this thread) is one out of The Filling Station's catalog for an early-50's Chevy car. I suppose a guy could install whatever hood ornament he wanted, as long as it fits. I'm a long ways from needing one, I'd just like to figure out what the heck it is.
