Still hauling after all these years... Got this load to the composting dump just before winter hit again, 3" of new snow... I'm ready for warm. Pete
Wow that truck is solid. Even the inside paint looks good. Has it beed restored before? That truck looks great and its nice to see it doing what its ment to do. I am also ready for 2nd or 3rd winter to end (lost count). I'm going to be putting my AD to good work building a garden.
Root- I bought my '53 in 1982, and it had been re-painted by the previous owner about ten years before. It is still wearing what is left of the old paint... Don't look too close, it has some bad body work in one of the front fenders, and a few small dents and dings. I love it just the way it is. I redid the interior in '89, 350/TH350 in '91, MII front end in '93. Been driving the wheels off of it since, nothing but oil changes... I still use the truck to haul stuff here and there, and mostly run back and forth to work in it spring through fall. Pete
How'd I miss this post!? Great seeing a truck being used as a truck! That reminds me of my very first vehicle I ever owned... Three window Chevy that I would load my lawn mower in and go cut grass for people at the young age of 16. It was a little dinged here and there, but I loved it. Hence my love for my latest 52. This time I will leave it, not the other way around.
Zig- I bought this truck when I was 14, with lawn mower money... I used it to haul my dad's old mower around town mowing lawns. I remember drilling holes in the old bed wood for bungee cords to tie down the mower... I'm pretty sure mowing the lawns was just an excuse to drive the truck somewhere. Pete
Amen to that, Pete! I was the same way. Cutting grass just gave me more time to dream about my truck. Soon as I was done, right back in and away I'd go~ That is way cool that you've had this truck all along. I'm sure you know it inside and out, and that's another great thing about these trucks. Simple and COOL!
