anyone out there had this problem before,my Son Matthews 1966 chevy truck has the rims on rear that has a lock nut on drivers side and passanger side,I tried a socket to fit in the middle of nut but no luck.Is there a easy way to get lock lug nuts off?I hate lock lug nuts who ever invented them needs to be locked on a rim and throw away the key}>
A good cold roll chisel and a BFH weilded by a guy with biceps the size of Arnold's, ( before he got into politics), should do the job. DVal
DRAW A GOOD PICTURE OF IT AND RUN DOWN TO YOUR LOCAL TIRE STORE AND ASK TO BORROW THE KEY. BUT IF ALL ELSE FAILS I REALLY LIKE DVALINTINES IDEA. 66 KUSTOM
I would drive it down to the local tire shop but Id have to flintstone it;-) no motor or transmission yet, still got another 1966 c-20 with the motor&transmission that we are going to use in this truck,we get it figured out on the lock lug nut its just frustraiting...Paying of the 1966c-20 now before we bring it home as a parts truck...
It will be worth it after we get it running my son will follow in my footsteps with a 1966 chevy he loves with the same passion & love I have for my 1966 chevy..
283 man, Were you able to get the locks off? If not, there are a few ways to do it. There are special sockets made with a spiral flute inside, that are hammered on, then you just loosen them up, an impact gun working the best. Otherwise, an air hammer with a chisel bit, or a regular hammer with a chisel bit. The bit needs to be hardened style, otherwise you will need a die grinder with a cut off wheel. Take the chisel, and on one side of the nut, hammer straight into it, creating a deep "line". After doing that, hammer the chisel carefully into that line at about a 45 degree angle counter clockwise. When done right, the line you created will allow the chisel to unscrew the nut. Hope that makes sense....Mike
