Greenie is a stupid name, I know but we have always called her that since we were kids.

I am new here because I just found this thread (and it is cool as isht!)

My truck is a modified '66 stepside. We took out the front end with the straight-6 and swapped it for a small block 350, drop spindles, power steering, disc brakes - all from a donor '78 that a guy had started. Also took gas tank from cab and added a fuel cell under the bed, then grabbed the rally wheels on the 78.

Other than that, almost everything is original! This was my Grandad's truck which he bought from his bro-in-law when it was just year old. So its been in my family for its whole life and she went from an old farm truck to a hot rod for the city (suburbs ;-)! My brother and I used to ride in the back (standing up) while my Grandad drove us around his small town to the golf course and grocery. Good Times.

I kept the 3 on the tree and we primed her green to match the old faded color of the original dark green.

I will attempt to post pics in the order of oldest to most recent.

I am torn between: 1) keeping the rims black and either chroming the bumpers and grill, or painting them all black; or 2) painting the rims white to match the white grill and bumpers.

You guys feel free to shoot me your opinions on that becasue I cant decide!

I am also looking for an old restored or original radio for my truck as I dont know what happened to this one. Also looking to sell or trade the 4 original green wooden hay rails if anybody local wants to come pick them up. they are on the truck in the first few pics.

Welcome to the site. Awesome truck, looks great as is.

Some folks may not have seen the pictures you posted in your photo album, so I'll put a link here: https://talk.classicparts.com/album.php?albumid=277

I sure wouldn't paint the bumpers and grille black... just my 2 cents. I am a big fan of old school aluminum slots... ever thought of going that route?

I can only imagine how cool it is to have your grandpa's truck.
Greenie isn't a stupid name, it's a perfect name you'd expect given by grandchildren.
    So Cool!

I have always liked black rims with chrome baby moons.
    But this pic is cool.

I would keep the bumpers white, or chrome, but I don't care for black on the bumpers or grill.

My vote is to repaint the white. Too bad you had to get rid of all the red oxide. Great project

    Thanks for the kind words!

I enjoy all you guys' threads of your trucks...and especially the pics! It is cool to see so many variations of one kind of truck!!

No worries , I hope you know that Gramps is riding shotgun everywhere it goes now..... :) .

As far as computer being difficult , I'm sure you know to have a good anti v*rus program that runs and updates , daily .

Also , there's a very good free cleaner program called CCleaner from Piriform that dumps out all the garbage that collects , you run it just before you shut off your 'puter , this makes everything faster and less locking up ect.
