Personally, I like Chevy Duty. It's a name that caught my attention during that first Google search, and I would hate to see it go. I've always thought the best trucks were the work trucks, and nothing says "Work Truck" better than the old Heavy Dutys. In that same line of thought, nothing says "Truck" like Chevy Duty. So if it changes, I'll still shop here, and still post on the forums, but my own thought are that it should stay the way it is.
When we type in "Chevy Duty" will it still bring up this site or will we have to start using the new name?
Sounds like they want to sell more than Chevy Truck parts. CPA can be used to sell all diffrent makes and model parts. As long as the prices stay the same I don't care. Don't know about you but I can't spend the money that ##### and Classic Industries wants for their parts.
Believe me...it's not like we wanted to change. We have actually been in discussion with GM for almost two years over it. We tried everything we could. We have had a great relationship with GM throughout our 22 year history. TM's Trademark Council has been fully aware of Chevy Duty since we started the company in 1984. We have always, and continue to buy parts from GM. They have, and still do include us in their GM Restoration guides. We have worked directly with their licensing programs for restoration parts...etc...etc... GM's response has been that they are working on cleaning up their marks. They have told us that they are doing this throughout the industry. I don't know if you remember but Volkswagon did the same thing about 5 years ago. The new website is www.classicparts.com. Chevy Duty will still be live for quite some time. GM is giving us time to ease into the transition of the new name and logo. That is really the only change. Robert Chevy Duty....uh I mean Classic Parts of America!!!
Does this mean you are going to have to change your street address and road sign. Maybe GM should try making a car that is worth a crap and stop worring about petty stuff.
I just had to laugh when you said "Maybe GM should try making a car that is worth a crap and stop worring about petty stuff". I've been thinking that for years now. I have always loved the classic Chevy vehicles, and even owned a few newer model GM products (1990 Camaro, 1997 GMC stepside, etc.) but in the past five or six years, I have not seen any GM products I would actually spend money on. Very disappointing. I don't like any of their new trucks. Too expensive for what they're actually worth, and in most ways my 43 year old truck outperforms and outhauls any half-ton on their lineup. (Not to mention getting the same, if not better fuel mileage) One redeeming aspect might be if they finally release their new Camaro in '08, but I'm not holding my breath on that, simply because I expect it will look nothing like the "concept" Camaro they introduced this year. (Think back to the concept for the 4th gen F-Body and you'll know what I'm talking about) I will continue to enjoy all the GM classics, especially my '63 C-10 SWB, but GM will have to do something pretty spectacular to get me to even concider any of their new product lineup.
