Ok, My 49 3100 is done after 14 years. I remember when I last drove it I had trouble with reverse. I have 3spd on the column, I can find my forward gears but I cannot get it into reverse. Any help for this confused owner. A shift pattern would help, I believe it is a H pattern. Thank you. Randy from Appleton , Wi.

gear shifting 3 on the colom

    Hey Randy

You are right about the 4H shift pattern! I would check the gear arm linkage if it is tight anaugh and adjust that if needed. If you can put the gearbox in gear manually there should be nothing wrong with the gearbox but then you need some help of a partner to clutch out the truck. Look spesificly at the connecting rod nearest the gearbox if that one moves ? If it does`nt check the gear box oil or adjust the reverse gear rod on the cover wich should be the lower rear one. Have you lubed the steering wheel main gear rod inside the cabin then use some water resistant corn head grease there. Use some of the same grease on to the other linkage rods aswell.

    Good luck Martinius.
