Hello Martinus, please look here: www.mobile.de
This is a web side, where you can buy used cars. In Germany driver don't like cars with automatic gear. Under 100.000 km thats an argument.

    Photos of the thermostat

    Hi Nate,
here two photos of the thermostat which was in my truck. I've pour over it with boiled water and I think the thermostat will work, it opened.
But I have another question, why should I drill it when it open? There is enough space for blow out the steam?
Photo No. 1, the thermostat is cold about 20 degrees
Photo No. 2, the thermostat was pour over with boiled water, about 100 degrees

The hole is to let air in the block escape past the thermostat when you are first filling the system with cold water/antifreeze mix.

    Hmmm...

Wolfgang , If air comes between the water level and thermostat it wont allow it to open in time even if the thermostat works ! Making a hole is one solution as Nate and Bill stated. But i would check up on the water channels aswell , your radiator and the heating core to be shore there is nothing that blocks the water float. The color of your coolant water will tell you the status aswell. Is there a lot of calcium in the drinking water maybe ?

Thanks for the web link :) Martinius.

So I knew now why my engine gets hot, in the water channels was dirt from last 60 years. Last week I rinsed the engne with clear water 3 times and it came a lots of dirt out.
Next week I will do this once more with running engine and let the water flow out, if the engine get operating temperature.
After that step I will wash the engine again with a cleanser and after this I'll fill in a radiator sealant from Holts, called wondarweld. My engine builder told me the makes cracks colse.
And I hope this will be the end of the disaster.

    Cause of problems!

Sounds like you have discovered the main problems. If Your are going to fill the system up again i recommend the red colered coolant as it cleans inside and wont cause rust. The Holts Product Works only temporary and is not the best solution as it could sludge the system again !!!! A radiator core reapair would be better if posseble !

    Good Luck Martinius.
