cruising on the freeway avarage was about 60 mph 235 engine 3 on the tree transmission with overdrive 3:73 rear end gears a few times i needed more power to get a round a few slow slow big rigs going under 50 mph i put my foot down and its slow to get mph back up once i get her back to 60 thats it no more juice not very quick anyways but i did have her up to 69mph so long story long if i put on dual carbs shoud i have a quicker acceleration
and a little more juice when i need it?????or change over to SBC:eek:

I take it your overdrive doesn't have a kickdown switch. 3.73's in OD come to a 2.61 final gearing which is a load even for a V8. The factory gear for OD was 4.11 and they were slow to accelerate in OD. Next time your out cruising start to accelerate and QUICKLY turn the key off and right back on; this will kick it down to straight drive and should pick up speed much quicker. 60 mph in straight drive with 3.73's won't hurt a thing and once your up to speed let up on the gas pedal and your right back in OD.
