Does anyone know if the manifold heat valve spring is the same on Chevy and GMC exhaust manifolds? I noticed mine was missing over the weekend. Our host lists a spring for "6 cyl" engines http://www.classicparts.com/1937-65-Heat-Riser-Spring-6cyl/productinfo/89-425/, but does not specifically say Chevy (most likely) or GMC (may be the same). Anyone have 1st hand knowledge about this?

Bill, have you figured it out yet? I've keep quiet because I have no clue about GMC motors. However, due to the silence, let me offer this. Here's a diagram showing how the chevy is configured. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1948_51truck/51ctsm0605.htm

Does your exhaust manifold lend itself to such a setup? My crude measurement shows to be approximately 9/16 in from centerline of shaft to centerline of peg on mine.

Thanks Charles. Your suggestion is $9 less than mine.

Ken: How well attached is your spring? If I came by, could we move it to my truck and see if it works?
