As part of my rebuild I changed out my 216 for a 1962 - 235. Prior to re-install of the 235 I changed out the water pump to the short shaft water pump provided by our host. I used the original fan blade that was on the 216. In the past several weeks I have re-installed the radiator and the rest of the front clip. After spending a great deal of time aligning the grill, fenders, and hood, I arrived at a point where I thought I had things just right. Almost as an after thought, I reached in and turned the fan only to find it was hitting the radiator frame. Question, has anyone had this problem? How did you fix it? Is there a different fan blade available that I should try. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, you need to use a 235 fan, rumor has it that the 216 fan may fly apart at speed.

If you check my assembly thread, I show how I modified the radiator mount.

    235 engine fan.

I had to tweek them blades a bit when i installed the 4 bladed 235 engine fan and the short shaft pump , but now i will install a flexblade With 7 blades that will provide the radiator with better cooling.

I bought the fan through this advertizement on EBAY fore 25 bucks. It does`nt say what brand it is but as it has wider 4 bolt holes alignment its posseble to adjust when mounting it to the water pump. I`ll gues i have to tweak the blades a bit to make it fit cause the short Space between radiator and waterpump.

    235 Fan

I used an aftermarket thing I found on some random V-8 Brand 'F' product ~ the pilot hole in the center was larger and the fan blades were a bit shorter so they *just* cleared the crank pulley .

Luckily the bolt holes are pretty much standard so all you needs do it take your old fan to the swap meet and measure it against the other fans lying in piles , they're typically under $20 and you can get a flex fan for better cooling @ idle or low speeds plus quieter and less power loss @ road speed .
