Was in Arizona on Saturday temp was 113 most of the day until a little rain fell which was as we were leaving headed back here at 7 pm PST then it went down to 89 till we were out from under the cloud then back up . The show at the Arboretum show was great by going only Sunday and not Friday night or Saturday the special plants were gone but I was able to get a few I have been wanting. Here ate a few photos of what was there. Would have been more but the battery ran down.
cactus & succulent show. Thanks for sharing your photos Charles. These plants are so amazingly beautiful . I love the 2 last photos of the "bonzai" looking forms very much. Are they old vegetations as they have these dwarf growing forms ? Take care Martinius.
I need more Succulents,,,,,,, My wife just had me make her a flower bed just for succulents, mostly Sedum varieties. I wonder if any would tolerate Tennessee? Its a fun little flower bed with rocks and grasses.
Sweet ! Thank you for those wonderful photos ! . Glad you made it home O.K. ~ I drove to Yucca Valley where it was 99? F @ 09:30 and didn't get any cooler all day .
If any of you California boys ever venture out this far east..... you could get lost in this cactus farm for days.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaHnYTHhpJA I could just imagine Charles haulin' ass down I 10 with one of these stickin' out of the back of his 1 ton.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIWMOQZwUB8 .
I've been to their place on Speedway, in the early 70's out on Tanque Verde there use to be another cactus farm/store, B&B's 2 1/2 acre spread was started about 1980 or so. I use to live on the 5000 block of E. Lee just above Speedway in town, my youngest daughter was born in Tucson in 1973. That would be a good looking picture of one or two about 10 ft. long in the back of it headed home. Charles
Steve, This is a great place, I buy there mail order because they get really great plants in that few sale elsewhere. http://www.plantdelights.com/ , enjoy. Charles
Tech plans Green house We have a kitchen garden area behind the house , aprox. 100 squire meters and we talked of building a green house. The idea is a build with a cement wall and build up a steel or aluminum frame on top , using plastic plate windows and a simple heating source. Any of you guys whom have tech plans to share ? Martinius.
