I bought a new metal top type fuel pump for my 54 3100. The old one had the inlet and output rotated ~30 degrees ccw. The new one has the inlet and outlet parallel to the motor. The top half of the new one looks like it could be rotated to match the old one, there are holes that seem to be in the right configuration in the lower casting. My question is, can (and should) i take off the top of the pump and ratate it to match, of leave it and attempt to bend the old fuel lines to work with it?

It depends on the fuel pump ~

You'd best post clear photos of it before you ruin things .

I wonder of they sold you the wrong pump as Airtex and others still make the correct fuel pumps for the 216/235 & 261 engines , it just looks a bit different .

A V-8 350 fuel pump will work but , it's different and requires bending the pipes .

I recently changed out the pump on my '52 GMC which also needed to be rotated before installation. No problem. Just pull the screws and carefully rotate to the position you want.
