Welcome aboard enjoy the ride while here, Need photos. Not sure what the 54 had for heater but you can look at some of the older posts and find the link to the manuals on line to get a start on your needs. have you traced the vacuum line from the engine compartment to the unit under the dash yet? You might look at the links on the top to see if Russ' How to assemble an AD should help you also.

    Welcome, Geezer!

If you have the old vacuum type wipers, I would suspect a vacuum leak, if they aren't working. Replacing the rubber hose isn't a big deal, just takes going slow. If you hear a noise, but nothing is happening, the arms have become disconnected. No real big deal, just have to bend yourself into a shape you never have been before to work on things under the dash... :(

Pictures of your truck would be appreciated, of course! ;)

    Hey !

    I thought I'm the Geezer here...... :p .

    WELCOME Newbie ! .

Your vacuum wipers won't work correctly until you've hot adjusted the valves then set the ignition timing dead nuts to the ball on pointer .

Then you'll discover they prolly still don't work because you need to remove the wiper motor and mail it to Ficken Wiper Service in New York , he's the only guy who has the parts & know how to properly rebuild your Trico wiper motor .

Not overly $pendy , get this done ASAP before he dies or runs out of parts .

As for the heater, there are probably 2 or 3 nuts on the firewall ( depending on which one you have) loosen them, take off the heater hoses, then swear properly at the same time you yank it with both hands. It will have some leftover antifeeze or rusty water to spill in the floor no matter how dry you thought you got it.
