just a real quick question I have a 66 one ton pickup with a 9 foot stepside bed has anyone ever seen this nobody I've asked has ever seen one and I can't find anywhere its listed as a factory option
Welcome to the site! Looks like starting in '62 the 9 foot bed was standard for 1-ton trucks. The pickup line continued to consist of ..... 6 1/2- and 8-foot Fleetsides and Stepsides, the 8-foot Stepside 3/4-ton and the 9 foot Stepside one-ton. Not really an option... if you wanted a 1 ton C30 "pickup" with a "fendered" bed (vs. a chassis cab or stake bed), the 9 foot step-side was the only choice, as I understand it. The following is for the '65 models, assumption being the '66 model year was the same.

i found a post on here listing the production numbers of 65/66 trucks but it doesn't go up to the c30 and it isn't much to look at started as a pioneer seed company truck ordered by my grandpa it was given to him when he retired my dad inherited it twenty plus years ago and its been sitting for about 16 years getting ready to drag it out and see what's left
Awesome, you can color me jealous! A truck with your family history is just too cool. All my grandfather and fathers' trucks rusted into oblivion 'cause we lived in the rust belt state of Ohio. Just brutal on sheet metal if driven through the winter months. So what are your plans... stock, lowered, hot-rodded ?
it'll stay stock can't imagine slamming a one ton its got all the good options for pulling the 19.5 wheels 5.14 gears and the 292 engine i was young when it ran but that thing was like a tank
Nice rig ! Welcome , Newb . When I was young and ypour truck was new , the Farms , Ranches , Commercial Carriers and Military bought these by the thousands but , being work rigs they mostly were run into the ground and discarded A buddy of mine has one , it's U.S.M.C. Surplus and is still going strong but kinda chopped up at this point . The 292 I6 engine is a real stormer *but* it's also a thinwall block with a long stroke design so you'll be well advised to keep the RPM's down and always run fully synthetic oils , hot changed in it else the engine won't last long . I'll try to get out there and get some pics soon i know its gonna need some love sitting as long as it has just hope the engine still free the rest i can handle pretty quickly the rear brakes seized up that's why it was parked getting it on a trailer to get it to the house will be fun
well went to go get some pics and don't have to worry about loading it guess someone thought they needed it cause its gone my blood pressure its so high right now i can't even think straight

Oh no ~ I hope you can find the parts as it's prolly being broken up for parts as you read this ~ look in the craigslist , make a Police Report and begin hitting up all the swap meets you can find . Damn , I'm sorry to hear this , I was going to write up how to loosen those locked up brakes .
Damn, sorry to hear that. Maybe drive around the area and see if perhaps you can spot it sitting on a trailer in a local driveway? Maybe somebody else in the family took it?
