I'm putting an automatic in my 1966 truck. I purchased a steering column yesterday out of a 63 impala automatic. I have not looked at it too close yet but it appears to be a "doable" swap. I didn't want a floor shift and I wanted the vintage look. Has anybody done something like this? Thanks for the help!

I got lucky and found a column for my 66 that came from a late 70's to early 80's chevy van. As you probably know, they have no ignition switch and are the right length for the 66. I bet your impala column will work too...maybe with just a little more engineering.

Thanks. It was kind of a fluke deal that I found it...thought for $50 I would try it. The color even matches. I did find one photo on this site that looks identical to it....so maybe I will get lucky.

Hi. Is your old column in good shape? I have a 63 that I'd like to keep original. Send me a private message or reply here if you'd like to sell your old column.

Thanks, Rich. I actually drove by that place about a month back and was wondering about it. But I had forgotten the name.
