So much to be thankful for. This site and the fine people here are without a doubt included in that!

Can't wait until my truck is rolling. A day like today would be a great day for a drive! And then bringing home a tree in it the following day would be cool, also.

Anyway, have a safe and wonderful day!

Amen, Paul. It can be so easy to lose sight of the big picture and take things for granted. I'm thankful for so many things I can't even begin to list them all. But rest assured, the good folks here on this site are on the list! :D

Take a moment and give thanks. I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. God Bless.

    Happy Day You TURKEYS !

As mentioned , we all have so much to be thankful for ! .

Shirley and I have a full load of six Teenaged Foster boys right now so she decided we're really putting on the dog for them this year ~ they're good kids , just caught in life's switches .

Me , I got an early Christmas Present yesterday : I got a new Neurosurgeon and he looked at my MRI's and said " WHOA ! this is FAR worse than the Radiographer wrote in your files Nate " .

So , he immediately scheduled me for an anterior cervical fusion with internal fixation of the C4-5 , C5-6 and C6-7 vertibrae . he'll remove the ruined discs in my neck and replace with bone then screw a titanium gusset brace into the vertibrae to give additional support .

After more than a decade of excrciating pain , I should be good to go once again .

He took me off work so maybe , just maybe I can get the manifolds replaced and the carby rebuilt on my truck (it's dead now) and re assemble the front suspension on my Metropolitan Nash before I go under the knife on 12/18 .

Or , not if the pain gets too bad but I'll give it a try as I won't be doing much of anything for a couple months after the operation .

Remember : no matter how bad you think you have it , someone else has it far worse than you do ! .

Example : I can't find any Mince Pie in Los Angeles (bad) but , I'm not living on the Farm anymore (very good indeed)

    Mince Pie !

Thank you kind Sir ! .

Don't be sorry for me , I've been suffering this pinche nerves thing for a decade , I'm happy beyond belief they're putting the knife to my neck .

My brother just called me to say he and my other brother & Pops drove up to some rural bakery in Wa. State where they bought the last two mince pies to be found .

How's the weather in Mn. ? no rain here , just a few clouds .

I'm glad they can fix you up. That's great but laying in a hospital is not a lot of fun but neither is 10 yrs of pain. The weather here is mid 20's with a north wind but no snow. Spent the mourning cutting wood then ate like a pig this afternoon. Tomorrow looks like a garage day. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The Dr. says only three days in the Hospital then three months @ home ~ I'm betting the home part will be the hard part .

Once I can sleep again I'll be *much* happier .

    Thanksgiving.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

Weather is not bad now no snow and around zero. Truck is still inside the barn, Next spring i`ll start working on it. Have better time then.

Nice to read that the specialist finally give you your wanted operations. I`ll hope that you recover again and can have a day without pain or discomfort.

Working on cars and trucks while being at home is only mental Health and should make you feel much better :D !

Wish you all the best of Luck Martinius.

    Thank You Martinus

As a Farmer , you know how difficult it is for me to be idle  .

Last night SWMBO gave me more left over turkey for dinner ~ I'm amazed the teenaged boys left a scarp of food but they polished off the ham , mac 'n cheese etc. , left turkey and greens for me , they didn't touch the cranberry sauce either so I got to finish that off all by my self :p .

It's cool and clear here in La La Land , the sun should be up soon and I have a Metropolitan Nash Tech Session to attend then I'll try to assemble the front suspension on my Met & tend my Son's dogs before packing it in for the day ~ the next two weeks I plan to try and get some Mechanical works done before my surgery , if I can .

If not , oh well .

Who knows : maybe even a little spin on my Moto as three months is a LONG time without Motocycle riding .

and a Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to all of you. Nate, I had to laugh when you mentioned mince pie. My Mom made all the pies (dinner was at the GF's) and I think the minced meat went the quickest. I hope all goes well on the 18th. I am good 5+ years after going under the knife (L4/L5 laminectomy- thats a ruptured disc in mechanic's speak). Zig, I know you have a good headstart on me, but the Salon I built for the GF is >finally< done, shy a few minor items, so Penny will be coming back to the front burner soon. Whoever finishes their truck first has to drive to the other guys house to show it off. OK, so its 22 hours. Pack a sandwich!

Back home from 640 mile Road Trip in Clarabelle, (Paul!) Belated Very Happy Thanksgiving to all. Nate, I sincerely hope all goes as planned for you. A friend of mine had a similar experience years ago and went to California for his procedure, with great success. Living in constant pain can't be pleasant. It's not hard for me to find lots of things to be thankful for. I try and do that on a regular basis, too.

    Nate,
When they fused the disc in my lower bad, the pain was gone and I felt like I had never been hurt, the operation pain was there I had one hell of a time with the therapy but it was all worth it. When they fused the disc in my neck the pain was gone when I woke up, had pain from the operation. Be sure to follow the directions from the Doc and do All the Therapy they want. If you follow all the therapy mandates this should last over 12 yrs. before the disc above and below start to fatigue and cause some discomfort. The lower back fusions are worst for fatiguing and going bad after 8 or so years.

    Mince pie !

    Thank you Joe .

    I'll give them a look .

Thanx to all the positive comments too ~ after my crazy life I'm thankful to simply wake up every day at this point .

Chronic pain kinda gets out of hand and blots out everything else in life until you want to simply give up .

For reasons beyond my comprehension I've had physical pain since childhood and I'm just getting too old and tired to have much fight left in me .

I plan to follow Dr's orders 1,000 % and do the P.T. as told , it helped ever so much on my previous maladies .

    -Nate
