I just bought a crate 350 with a 700R4 tranny and a transmission shop in town told me I should get a radiator for a automatic transmission that can support my engine and trans together. Just wondering if anyone has bought an aftermarket radiator like this and where they bought it. Thanks
I would not use a radiator with the internal trans cooler. The trans fluid will never be cooler than the engine coolant. If your engine runs hot, then your trans fluid will be hot. I don't remember the numbers, but for every 5 degrees over a certain temp (220 is what comes to mind) the trans will lose a percentage of its life. The hotter it gets, the quicker it goes down hill. So, get a separate trans cooler for peace of mind. Some people will argue my point, but that is my opinion.
I use and reccommend Champion radiators from Ebay (pretty much what everyone sells). The ONLY issue I have had is the threads pulling out of the trans cooler hookup after repeated installations/removals. I use a thread adapter that piggybacks the hard line. Screw the adapter into the radiator and leave it. You can then thread/unthread all you need. I find them for $170 shipped all day. You only need a 2 core as aluminum exchanges heat quicker. I also like the Black Magic fans from Summit....they are expensive but they move 3300CFMs.

Radiators Walker is good . I've also used U.S. Radiator in Los Angeles to good effect , American made , OEM or better quality . Me , I always go for at least THREE row cores and let the thermostat do the work . External tranny coolers are iffy ~ the in radiator tranny cooler is smart because if warms up the ATF , few realize than too cold ATF wears out the tranny fast to . Best is to use two coolers and run a thermostat . Avoid Chinese shyte at all costs .
