parts swap I will indeed send you the parts as soon as I do the swap. It's going to be a couple of weeks though as I do use my truck and am busy lecturing all over the darn country. I'm in Jersey now lecturing to a bunch of other chiropractors till Sunday. Next week I'm going to Atlanta to do the same for four days. Doesn't leave me with a lot of time to do the conversion but most parts have been acquired. This week I'm going to get the rest of the parts and start the conversion when I get back from Atlanta. As soon as I get the parts off my truck, I will ship them to you. Andy
closed to open conversion and rear end swap Dang!!! That means I'm going to have to document it and post pics. Anybody know the proper pinion angle to set when putting a Nova rear into one of these trucks?
update on the update Had inguinal (groin) surgery yesterday for a hernia repair. Worked my ass off these past several weeks to get all the heavy stuff done and out of the weather before this surgery laid me up from heavy lifting for the next couple of months. Got the new Nova rear ready for the conversion. Cut off the old axle perches and made the tubes nice and smooth at my buddies steel shop last Tuesday. Installed the heat in my garage last Friday night. Pulled the engine and trans from my Model A flathead V8 hot rod project, pulled the trans and replaced the throwout shaft, then reassembled and dropped it back in the hot rod chassis. Then had boys lift body back onto chassis and put back in garage. Figured out proper assembly of old Ford driveshaft/torque tube/speedo gear parts and proper length for shortening/rebuilding of new driveshaft for hot rod. Did all of that Saturday/Sunday. Also last Tuesday dropped off Nova rear for the truck at my friend/patient's auto repair shop. We do barter and since I am out of commission for the next several weeks, he is going to do the front disc and new rear end/open driveline conversion for me. That works for me. He's the one that offered to do it. Great guy, great shop. He's a real gear head and there are always interesting projects/antiques/classic 'Vettes in various stages of fabrication at his shop so I am real confident in and friendly with all the guys that work there. Just ordered up the rest of the parts to finish the job yesterday before my surgery. As soon as the rest of the parts get here (some kind of BS from our host that the rear axle conversion kit takes 4-6 weeks to ship from the manufacturer...what's up with that?) the truck will be dropped off at my friend's shop and I will pick it up a week or so later with front discs and a 3.08:1 rear axle in it. Can u say "highway cruiser?". The only thing I'm having a little trouble finding are wheels that will accept my dog dish hubcaps and will take my almost new 16" tires on a 5 by 4.75" bolt pattern as well as clear the front calipers and stock style tie rod ends. Anybody done this disc conversion who has a source for those or knows of the correct year/wheel/backspace, etc.? Would be greatly appreciated. Need this for 16" tires. Thanks, Andy
Now is a great time to square up on our parts trade deal as I am still sitting on a transmission that has been rendered useless to supply you with your open drive line parts.
settle up Sounds like a lotta works been getting done. Good for you,Chiro. Seems like theres no excuse to get the parts back to DeadZone. He hooked you up,,its people like him that help people like you and expect to be reciprocated. Shouldn't leave the dude hangin like that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Busy Boy ! Andy ; I hear you , I've been trying to get things done but the pain stops me cold most days after 4 ~ 5 hours of work . I still can't figure out where I put the king pin & spindle for my Metropolitan Nash , I'd love to get it done now as it'll be after Summer 2014 if not finished / assembled by my surgery . Speaking of Hernias , I've had two , both sides and recurrences . The single most important thing I learned from the very first one was : SHAVE YOURSELF ~ the idiot intern did a nice job but missed where I needed to be shaved by a good 3" so the bandages stuck to my hair Think about the most painful thing you've ever had then double it by 4X ~ breathing or even thinking of breathing was agonizing for a week . Now , back to old truck talk but mind my warning ! if you're over 30 you'll prolly have this surgery in a few years .
parts swap 3100 powerglide. The parts swap is between me and deadzone and there are no issues. we have been communicating about it all along. It's none of your business so keep your opinions to yourself
