Soooo Its my sons first truck. We have an 85 k20 4wd that the body was falling off of. the 350, th400 t-case and diffs were in good running order. I swapped an old motor cycle for a '50 3100 that has been sitting since the 80s. The engine was locked up. many drivetrain parts were missing so. we are shortening the frame to match the wheelbase of the 50 after we repair the cab and get it mounted. I have plans to lift the chassis 4 " and install a rear tank from a surburban.

I believe in the wide world of the intermess somebody else has probably done a swap simular to this. Any pics out there?

Do a Google image search. This has been done many times before. There is one near me, but I don't know the man. The main issue I hear of is the forward mounted power steering box.

    Thank you !

    For those pictures .

    I like those square bodies , I had one for a while (GMC 2500) but they're :

    A. BIG

    and

    B. apparently made of tin foil ~ even hever in the California Desert , they rust away .

I hear you about working in the cold Garage , in the 1960's I lived on a Dairy Farm in New Hampshire (milking Shorthorns) and the Garage was an old barn bug 3/4 into a hill so it was COLD in there year 'round ! .

Your Son is lucky to have a Father who's interested in teaching and spending time with him , lots of good lessons to come yet .

I like your crawler too ~ what year & model is it ? Diesel ? looks to be a Johnny - Popper of some kind .

    crawler

My crawler is a 1950 as well. its an old john deer mc. A whoppin' 25 horse vertical 2 cyl when it left the factory. I bought it from my aunt after my uncle passed. It was alot of fun being on the back end of a "teeter totter" the way the cab was lifting the back o the crawler up.

As far as the 85 body, it wasn't made of tin foil. It was compressed rust. They packed the rust together at the factory an slapped paint over it. :D

    Parts

If anybody wants any parts of the '50 that are in the area, please feel free ta e-mail me.

NO body parts, anything on the frame save the rear axle. I believe the casting #s on the block were a 54 engine. It looks like a 4 speed top loader trans.

'Come on! don't make me scrap this stuff!
