Both my rear lower shock mounting brackets have a crack. Would you recommend just getting them welded or find new mounts. I didn't see them listed on Chevy Duty. Any idea where to find them?
Both the right and left piece have about a 1 inch long crack by one of the u-bolt to trailing arm mounting holes. I've heard heating some auto frame metals (by welding) can weaken them.
Yes,I heard the same thing too.I dont know of any place to buy them new.Might try some wrecking yards to find some decent ones.If i find some i'll let ya know.Jeremy
where are you located, and is your truck a 1/2 ton 2w.d.? leaf or coil springs? Jesse Hazell Chevy Duty Tech.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-05 AT 09:34 PM (CST)]I live in Plano, Tx, a suburb of Dallas. My truck is a 1/2 ton 2WD with coils.
I found someone that has a pair of brackets, but they want $80. Seems kind of high to me. What do you think?
There is a company that makes a rebuild kit for the entire rear end of your truck. I think it is CPP. They always have an add in Classic Trucks magazine.
there is a guy in Oklahoma, his name is Tom, he may be able to help i think he has a salvage yard..if you can shoot me over an e-mail i'll give you his information..tech1@chevyduty.com Jesse Hazell Chevy Duty Tech.
I posted a bunch of requests all over the internet and found someone that had the mounts. Thanks for the info. I still want to keep that person in mind for other items.
