ok guys and gals i need you thoughts on this i have the front sheet metal off going to start plugging holes in the firewall so the louvers on the passenger side of cab have a crease on them from top to bottom from the door swinging open hard in some time of the trucks life. so i was thinking of cutting the louvers out and adding a solid panel have no plans of ever using the stock heater so i need some thoughts remove or try to fix i was planning on putting a patch panel on the inside of the cab.
    am i overthinking this??
    thanks Robert

If you are going to cut them out and weld in a panel, you could weld in a new panel with/or without the louvers. Our host has both styles. I personally like the look. I have the vent door on the drivers side that i am trying to keep. Zero luck in finding a replacement panel so far. May have to cut out the door and weld into a new panel. I am a rookie at this stuff, so I may have a buddy help on this part.

I'd say keep the louvers... I think they add character. You can get to the inside fairly easily to straighten the existing ones, I think.

    keep em

I like them so I say KEEP EM.. like the guys said they add to the looks of the truck. And mine also had some creases and from the inside I straightened them up and you would never know. Oh yeah much less time and trouble than cutting them out. Just sayin;)

I'm the same way. I've even done something come back the next day and it's not perfect the way I want so I cut it out and start over.
