Man, that thing is awesome! I didn't even know something like that exists. Pretty cool though.

Best I remember it was used as a crew truck for the railroads or possibly by the State of Illinois DOT.

Those advertisements are sweet! I remember seeing a fire engine on Gas Monkey Garage that was an old GMC truck with a Bruco body. The cab on that thing was HUGE. If the link works, here's a photo of the truck from a Twitter post:

Can you guys imagine what you could do with a cab that big? Holy moly....

You guys on this forum are magicians, one of ya needs to head straight for Michigan. Nate, if you pass this up, two months from now you will find 3 rust free cabs for it on one of your junk-yard gold mining trips. Russ, I can just see another Ol Chebby sticky at the top of the column. You could put a fifth wheel on it, and haul your other ADs around.
If you read the ad, the guy says all you need to spend is $10,000 on it to fix it up!
He must know some real good tricks!

I have kicked around the idea of building one of those, only 4 door. I have done some cyphering on it nd I think I have the design figured out. Now I need 2 more truck cabs with doors.

I don't know what I'd do with a Big 'Bolt Crew Cab Rig ~ too big for me , no where to park it and I only need a small , light duty pickup anyway .

I remember seeing those 15 passenger " Air Porter " rigs at the swap meets in the 1970's ~ they were always tired but complete , being run into the ground by Vintage Chevrolet parts guys who trashed them then junked them out .

Not far from me used to be a 1955 Chevy Air Porter , it was for sale for $1,500 in the late 1970's through the mid 1980's......

I really do like that GMC Bruco Service Body Rig , was it a heavy duty tire service vehicle or a Fire Dept. rig ? .

It was a fire truck. The hose connections for the fire pump can be seen between the cab doors. It's a very unique set-up, this is the first rig I've seen with this particular layout. The wheel base on this rig is L - O - N - G. I can imagine it'd take forty acres just to turn the darn thing around.

HA!! The last thing I need to do is drag home more yard art. Some day I'm sure I'll have more fire trucks, more Chevy trucks, maybe an old GMC like my dad used to have when I was growing up... but I have plenty enough to work on as it is right now.

The "Big Trucks" are definitely not for the weak or faint hearted.

Some of the most interesting truck builds I have seen are Big Trucks :D

I think this one is home built but has nice panel fit and if the helper steps on the running boards are one off items then some thought went into the design. I had a 4 door that was custom built with a conveyor belt from the rear heavy duty bumper to very tall stands reaching up from the front bumper. It was for loading/unloading freight planes and had never had a license plate on it since it spent it's whole life on the airport. I guess the crew cab was there to haul a loading crew out to the planes without using an extra vehicle.
