my ´53 finally made it to Austria

There are different T5's some with little overdrive, like 10%...no point in using them, but there are some T5's with more like 25% IIRC. You must use one with a mid-tranny shifter or it will come too far back in the floor. I think you will soon see that the SM420 is for "Cavemen". Although the...

my ´53 finally made it to Austria

Gruss Gott Gernot, Going 70 KPH or MPH? Thats all nice but if I recall there are some big hills in Austria, so you should also be planning on doing something with the brakes so you can stop at the bottom. Open shaft rear end gives you a lot of flexibility for tranny's, a T5 is a easy swap and...

Exhaust Manifold, Intake Manifold, Oil Filter - What should I do????

Go McGyver! Well, you are on the right track. If nothing else old contraptions will take some ingenuity and creativity on your part. Fashioning a nice cork washer from the pattern of those would be easy. Go back to FLAPS they sell a bag of assorted gasket materials and cut your own. I just...

    Hardware question

No Dear!! That is not a Nut-Driver!! I got carriage bolts at Lowe's, in different sizes even, maybe have to cut them down. Question.....do you really think she looked all that hard?? Was she in the special man's hardware section with all the stainless? or possible just the usual...

Exhaust Manifold, Intake Manifold, Oil Filter - What should I do????

So right! Since these were usually dealer or aftermarket....I would not think that there is a correct color....I might have driven my truck a few years and then a owner added it.

    Hardware question

Take that tax refund check and send the chassis out!! Go fishing with a clear conscience. While your there...take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with that whole stainless/special hardware section. Its amazing the stuff they've crammed in there, remember those pricey little screw lock...

Oh, Zig, Done with that chassis yet? You might try Lowe's special hardware section. They have an automotive drawer that's unbelievable, I just bought some small carriage bolts for my Visor.

Exhaust Manifold, Intake Manifold, Oil Filter - What should I do????

I used our sponsors gray motor paint, in fact only brushed it on and it has been fine for 5 years. Exhausts are a different story. My original AC is a French blue cannister with orange top. Different brands used different colors as these remote filters were aftermarket add-ons. Go with what you...

Exhaust Manifold, Intake Manifold, Oil Filter - What should I do????

You might research your remote Oil filter, it came in different colors, AC was blue and orange, Our sponsor has decals for it. It will look so fine with Valve cover, oil filter and air cleaner decals. Congrats on leaving it stock! Seems return on investment is always better that way.
