I just acquired some stainless trim for my 59 fleetside longbox. Does anyone have access to pictures of one without trim but with the holes so that I can have some sort of idea for placement.
Thanks.
Derek
I found a 1958 GMC carryall and I wondered if anyone knows much about the v8 engine they put in them that year. Is it a good motor? Can you still get parts? What size is it? What are the motor's downfalls?
Were the transmission options the same as the chevy counterpart (3 speed on column & 4...
Just found out that my pinion bearing is bad. Based on the vibrations it is possible that the case is also worn. (Vibrates on accelleration as well as right after you let off the gas) What is the best way to tell what gears are in the rear end? What gear ratios came in the 55-59 chevy trucks...
I finally got my overdrive working. After fiddling with the wiring etc. I finally found out that the solenoid was full of oil. Now my three speed truck is a 3 speed manual +2 automatic overdrive. I am really exited to get the wiring finalized now that I know it works. I am debating between the...
Thanks for all of your help so far... It has been a crazy week with my truck. I found out that my wiper motor burned out because of a bad switch. The previous owner used a single speed toggle switch.
Meanwile I have been scouring the internet looking for an original wiper switch as well...
Does anyone know a good source for a NOS or reproduction wiper switch?
The guy I bought my truck from wired it up with a toggle switch. It ended up burning up my wiper motor.
Any help would be appreciated. I know that our sponsor has a universal type replacement switch as well as a...
I would like to dress up the existing wheels on my pickup.
Based on the existing hubcaps, I believe that I have 6 lug rims from a 1973-77 chevy truck on my 1959 chevy truck. Do custom hubcaps exist for these wheels? Baby moons etc... I believe that I have a 3" dish on the back and a 2" on...
Just wanted to make a shout out and say thanks for all the help. As some of you may have read earlier. I just bought a new old truck '59 big window fleetside 32.
Today was a landmark day. After struggling to get the headlight wiring straight (the truck has been rewired once so factory...
I was examining behind my seat in preparation for seat belt installation and I think I have a really slow leak in my gas tank. Is anyone familiar with the stuff that our sponsor site sells to seal small leaks. Does it work?
I was also thinking about puting the tank below the bed. I have...
I need to change the headlamp switch on my new truck. Looking at the parts from the host of this forum, it looks as if the retainer nut screws in to the switch.
Before I delve into the project I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the knob and shaft out of the switch. I gather the...
I just wanted to get some opinions. As I mentioned earlier, I sold my 59 longbox small window stepside. It had mucho rust and bondo. I found a long box fleetside big window that is extremely straight. No deluxe trim! :) kind of a hot topic lately:) It does have chrome grill, lights, and...
I just sold my 59 3200 long box and I was looking at the NADA website.
What is the difference between a 3100 LWB & SWB. I was thinking that the LWB is the box length that is in between the long box 3200 and the short box 3100. Does that sound right?
Thanks,
Derek
Does anyone know...
So I fixed the bogging down issue with the new spark plugs I put in.
Now I have focused my attention on the antifreeze on my floorboards.
What makes up the deluxe heater? I found an original heater control valve but I hesitate to shell out the bucks if it won't fix my problem. Is the...
In the last week I have noticed some antifreeze on the passenger side of my cab floor. I have a 59 apache with a 235 inline six. I wondered if anyone knows what could be wrong before I tear the thing apart. I was thinking that it is probably the heater core. I didn't have any problems in the...
I have been trying for several weeks off and on to get my deluxe heater controls out in order to replace one of the control levers.
I took out the two screws on the face and the two screws in back toward the top. I have also been able to remove some of the cables attached to the levers...
