    autotranny shifting

    I have seen this exact problem several times, and every time is was low tranny fluid. Try adding a little at a time, and see if it gets better....

    87 chevy auto to standard swap

    Agree with the others...stick with the Auto tranny. The TH400 is the strongest, and will withstand abuse, or just tons of power, for many years....
