Your rivets in your hinges are shot time for new ones.You have movement in the 58-59 hinges but not alot.Take the hood (open) move it up and down and see if the hinges have play.If they do then it will pop up like that.The after market ones work great i have bought alot of them.

I would look on ebay for the pan. I have a 59 gmc with a 270 six and a hydramatic trans and found my pan on there.

Well nate, i would have to disagree with you because these trucks are hard to find because everyone scrapped them or took them apart to use the cab,hood,doors,motor, and radiator for ther project trucks.I bought a 57 4400 (MY PICTURE) before some guy was going to do just that and the truck...

That trucks is in the $1500 to $2500 range maybe a little more.

Hey, If you have a harness from classic truck parts Take the black wire from the plug and hook it to the hot on the back of the alternator.It will charge then it fields the regulator inside the alternator.I had the same trouble and that did the trick. Cliff

Hey, Yes 9 to (S-D) and 10 to (H).I love there harnesses because they work well but have to lengthen some light wires and temp wire some times.I liked them even more when they were $100 bucks not $200. Cliff

Hey, Some times you have to use a flat bladed screw driver around the edges to help pull it out.The opening is tight on some dashes. Cliff
