Oh yeah! I went to a car show with my Daughter the weekend before Thanksgiving. Walked away with "Best Of Show!" Neat award too. It's CAD cut with a plasma cutter.
The discoloration, I believe, is because when I last assembled the trunnion, I lined generously with mystic red grease. No pictures of the cleaned up parts, but they cleaned completely back to polished silver metal. Pics are a little misleading.
I did that after having this issue. I did find the problem before any damage was done. I was able to just burnish the surfaces of the trunnion bearing, lubricate, and reinstall.
Mine is Yukon Yellow. It has a slight 'creamy' touch that softens the yellow a bit. BTW Nate, have you read my thread about u-joint issue? Seems like you might be able to add some info there. Namely, do you know how much gear oil was put in the ball socket at the factory?
The u-joint is supposed to receive lubrication from "splash" from transmission, through main shaft rear bearing. My truck has the heavy duty Borg Warner T89 3 speed tyranny. After my overhaul of the tyranny early this year, it was discharging lube through the nose piece/front bearing retainer...
My truck developed a vibration in the driveline. It got progressively worse over a few days making short trips. Initially, I could push in the clutch and release it and the vibration stopped. As the problem progressed, this no longer worked. My first thought was centered around the clutch and...
Any chance the engine set in rain while at body shop. Water maybe seeped in around threads and then weeped out when heated up? I'd maybe blow out the screw holes, replace screws with a dab of grease, and warm up the engine again?
BTW. I've had a couple of episodes where the recovery tank was utilized, and it seems to have worked as designed! Many Thanks for everyone's input for a working solution to the problem! Special thanks to Lakeroadster for the engineering help! Y'all get out and make these mods to protect your...
Mike Stanton is retired Pitcher from 3 World Series Championships with New York Yankees. Turns out, he lives 3 miles from me. He's currently commentator for pre game for Houston Astros.
I came out of Home Depot on Wednesday and a note was on my windshield... A man named Mike Stanton wanted me to use my truck for his Daughter's wedding. Went this evening to do just that! Pretty cool. (His Daughter made the request!)
Is your seat frame secure enough to withstand impact of 5 times your weight against the seatbelt? I think that's about what it would experience in a crash. I'm not an engineer, but that's a kinda rule of thumb. Others, feel free to correct. Bill B.
Sadly, I haven't repainted yet. Been waiting for the spill "fix" just completed. Since I paint outside, it may be a bit before I get weather cooperation, and prep work done. I am confident that we've (Lakeroadster and I) have resolved the problem though. Much gratitude to Roadster for his...
