    Pertronics???

The new Pertronix I just installed does not use a "rotator" like my old one, but relies on the existing lobes of the distributor shaft. Works very well so far.

    Pertronics???

I was able to re-arrange the wire set to a very satisfactory result. My plugs are AC 45R and now with the new 7mm carbon core wires, new Pertronix coil and Ignitor - it now runs as smooth as ever. The Ignitor's info sheet states that it is not compatible with solid core plug wires, but I...

    Pertronics???

Thanks Nate. They are very well made and I guess I will need a crimping tool to do them correctly.

    Help Identifying

Another vote for Mar-K. Picking it up there would be a good thing. This stuff is heavy and I remember a freight company helping me unload it here in Nashville.

    Pertronics???

Is there a decent set of spark plug wires that properly fit a 235 Chevy? I have recently replaced my fried Pertronix Ignitor (from 10 years ago) after being stranded in the boodocks (thanx AAA). I had been using solid core wires like original (as per our sponsor offered many years ago) and...

    Heater core / heater id

I had to send mine off to Maine Radiator for a core rebuild. Not cheap, but they did an excellent job and very good service. I now run my truck with a 0 psi cap. Those "do-nut" cores are delicate. Good luck, Terry

    Help me find neutral

Well, speaking of tranny issues, mine just started to pop into neutral from 3rd whilst under a load. Usually when I least expect it in climbing a hill unless I keep my hand on the shifter (3 speed on the Tree). This is the original transmission for my truck. My brother had a 1950 1/2 ton truck...

    Never again

My first (and only) VW was a 1968 Karmann Ghia. A wonderful car to drive and I drove it for 200K miles on it's original engine. I learned much from that machine - like valve adjustments (every 3K), oil changing (every 3k), belt adjustment techniques (shims - really). The earth was taking it's...

Nice Job! Also, I am partial to Mariner Blue. That will be one very nice driver.

    Door hangin' blues

I spent many hours doing the door fit dance and was reasonbly satisfied until I went and installed the weather striping. I did the best I could and they close well (and stay actually stay shut when rounding a corner), but they may look as good as they ever did from the factory for all I have...

    The heater leaks cooling water

Guten Tag, If it is a "Donut" core, you may want to check with Maine Radiator. They provided me with one that is performing perfectly. I am running a 0 psig radiator cap and the cooling system is functioning very well. <180 degrees F. This is for a 1953 1/2 ton with a 1960 235 engine.

    Battery

I also use a rubber floor mat with the rag looking pad underneath. I did not clamp it down at the areas adjacent to the doors or along the seat frame. I simple flip the corner over to gain access to the battery box lid. I also use one of those green knobed cut-off devices, so I do this every...

    What did your build cost?

As for the overall cost, I have a rough idea, but as others have stated, realize that it is irrelevant. It kept me in the garage away from sitting in front of stupid TV shows. I look back at those times as golden and now find myself wondering about my next Truck or project.

    1954 or 1953 truck

I am more inclined to say that truck in the picture you attached is a pre 1953 model - maybe a 1951 - 1952 model with the long bed (extra stanchion) or a 3/4 ton. the insignia on the hood sides, the wing window, and the door handles are clues that I followed.

    new to old chevy's

Carlos, you did very well. From what I can tell from that picture you have some good sheet metal to start with. Seems straight and pretty much all there. I think you will enjoy this truck very much. Cheers,

    starting over

Hang in there... you have developed some good skills. It took me well over 6 years to "complete" my truck. But to tell you the truth, I miss the project experience some and without a doubt, it is much more rewarding than spending time watching a crappy TV show. I am still occasionally tinkering...
