    66 1/2 ton shorty

Thanks for the imput. I don't want to lower it for a couple of reasons, one the roads in Maine are not the best and I don't care for the look of a lowered truck. Perhaps some new shocks and springs is all I can do. Thanks again

    66 1/2 ton shorty

Wondering what the best way to improve my handling and suspension. It was updated before I got it with disc brakes and what seems to be new steering and linkage parts. It had a 283 and now has a crate 350. Seems like it needs more than new shocks. Do I need to put heavier coils in the...

    Rebuild or replace?

Please keep in mind I am a builder not a mechanic. I have just been told I have a cylinder that is loosing compression. I brought the truck to a mechanic I checked out with friends and ref. and I trust him to use me right. I brought it to him to install the new 4bbl,intake,headers, etc...

Thanks A lot of conflicting advice out there, just thought I would ask someone with the same set up. The truck had factory manifolds and 1.5 " with flowmaster mufflers, 2 bbl. How much improvement can I expect? Thanks again.

    exhaust size

What determines the size of the exhaust pipe on my 66 chevy with a 283 that I have added a 600 cfm edelbrock and a set of basic flowtech headers. Is the 1.5 inch dual exhaust that i have now with flowmasters enough? thanks

    bed wood

Rustbucket I bought it as is. I was told it is Daytona Yellow. That is all I have on that. I might suggest you drill the new boards after you get the old ones out, using them for a template. Once I had it marked out I drilled a small pilot hole 1/16 +_ then started the larger 1/4+- from both...

    bed wood

Rustbucket I meant to tell you I started with the narrow strips first and worked my way to the center. An eighty pound helper (in stocking feet) is a plus! Did you buy it predrilled? As hooked up said don't overtighten, you will need someone topside to make sure they are in the square hole...

    bed wood

Rustbucket I just finished my bed wood project, bought some quarter sawn white oak from a local mill and made my own . It had a ten year old stainless bolt and strip kit in it and I reused it. I removed the bed to perform it with a lot more access. If you are able to get some help I think...
