Guys. Since I've decided to install a mid-50's 235 engine in my '53 truck, I might as well consider upgrading to a 12v system. What 12v generator would you recommend?

    Thanks...Tony

    12 Volt Generator Answer

Pretty much any of them , Pontiac , Oldslowmobile and Cadillacs all had higher output gennies than do the lowly Chevrolet , you needn't buy any special voltage regulator , any GM 12 volt one will do .

I hope this helps , remember that when junkyard or swap meet hunting , the RED DELCO tags means it's a 12 volt unit.

    12v gen

I would think a elect shop could convert your generator to 12v the same with your starter to which i would keep 6v for faster starting.
plus i have seen it somewhere a 12v alt that looks like a generator.

Powergen makes an alternator in a generator case, but they are $$$$$$$$$$. An auto electric shop can convert your generator to 12v. I had the one in the 53 done for about $135 with full rebuild.
