Marja wich whas here name here carried Henry Rinnan from prison to court for 2 World War II, was in Trondheim police service from 1939 to 1949. A few years ago, the car came back to town, having served elsewhere in the country.

The car is a Chevrolet panel, which came as the chassis from the United States in 1938, and was rebuilt and registered in Norway in 1939. It whas used as an Policetransport, Armedcar and car for sightseeing.

In active Police duty between 1939-1949 in Trondheim/Norway. From 1949-1959 in activ duty at the Rjukan district prison.

Chevrolet has both been patrolcar at Rjukan police, and city sightseeing bus before it ended up being a farmtruck.
It was simply a wreck when it got here, "says Terje Østbø President of Amcar club in Trondheim. Together with the police, Trondheim and pupils at the Charge carschool he and the club used down many hours in the renovation.

Now they badly need help to complete the project.

A carpenter or cabinetmaker must not hesitate to contact us, we absolutely need it now, "explains Østbø.

Engine start after 60 years after hidden in a barn.
Schoolkids and teachers working together on this unique project.:):)

That's a whole lotta work there , my hat is off to those guys .

I'd never fire and engine dry like that ~ old 216's have cast iron pistons and you can sore the cylinder walls easily or collapse the rings , running sans water .

I hope you'll keep us posted on the ressurection of this Paddy Wagon .

    Engine start.

The best way of teaching kids is working together with the adults doing the practicall mecanicall work. But it needs a lot of patience thats fore shore.
The engine whas overhauled before it whas started and the kids liked the lot of oilsmoke that came from the valves. The project made much plessuare as they where at school actually. I will update you guys how the end result is going to be of this " Paddy wagon".

    Martinius.
