I am looking to rebuild my carburetor for my 1951 chevrolet pick up truck. It is a 216. However it has a carter W-1 carburetor on it. I know the motor is not the original to the truck, but I'm not sure exactly what year the motor is. I'm positive that the truck is a 1951 however. In my parts catalog I have noticed two Carter W-1 rebuild kits. One for 1947-1948 Item 81-151, and one for a 1949 item 81-152. What is the difference between the two carburetors and is there a positive ID for the Carter carburetor so I may order the correct rebuild kit? Also what is the original carburetor for a 1951 pickup? Thanks, Geoff So Cal.
Carter carburettor issue Hey, Geoff 1951 1/2 t. trucks with 216 engines where often aguiped with both Rochester B and BC carburettors. The Carter carb is a very solid manufactured and maybe a better option then the Rochesters ? Maybe the following link gives some answeres to your questions ? http://www.carburetor.ca/ Sins. Martinius.
