1951 Chevy 1 1/2 ton rearend

Hello. New to the forum. I have a 1951 Chevy 1 1/2 ton truck named Bertha. She has a 2 speed rear end that gave out a few months ago. The spider gears gave out. I’m hoping someone can point me in the direction of some new spider gears. I have the entire rear end out of the truck and will take it to a professional shop to have it rebuilt if I can find the parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

O.K., stand by , this is a 3600 series ? .

Not a whole lot of 1-1/4 ton enthusiasts left these days .

IIRC this used s Spicer two speed axle with vacuum control, later (? Task Force ?) models had a worm drive electric shift motor .

There's a helpful guy in Arizona who's really sharp on the hard parts, he'll likely chime in ere long and may even have N.O.S. parts for you .

I think my truck is a 6400 series. It has dual tires on the rear end.

Turns out I had an old parts book and was able to identify the parts by their part numbers.
Need 3 spider gears part no. 3683815
Need the spider part no. 3278-M-91

Have you found what you need yet ? .

If you follow some Hot Rod builds from other Big Bolts you'll usually find the entire rear end has been discarded and is unsellable making them dirt cheap once you find one, usually sitting in the grass behind the house or garage....

If you can figure out what rear end it is you should be able to discern how many years it was used thereby making the search easier....

Joe on this forum has most everything you could ever need, he's in Arizona .

I no longer do the old truck junkyard thing so I'm not sharp on what fits what anymore , sorry .
