I'm a new owner of my grandpa's 53 chevy 3600 and hear that the wheels aren't very safe. They're the 17" and have old 7.00x17 tires on them. What I want to do is keep that old look with the narrow farm truck tires but want it driveable around town. Any suggestions?
If they're the split rim typ that uses a lock ring to hold the assembled wheel to-gether then yes , they _can_ be tricky to deal with but if you send them out for poweder coating they'll be fine , just get new tires tubes and run flaps and they'll prolly out last you unless you work the truck . Else you canbuy rims from a newer truck that are one piece ,-or- maybe Stockton Wheel can weld new hoops on the original centers , making them into one piece wheels . All this depends : do you have split rims or not ? . -Nate
