Hello, I have a 1960 1/2ton chevy. I also have a 1978 1/2ton chevy. Can I swap the suspension and disc brakes from the 78 to the 60 with little or no modifications? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
    Daryl

Its said that the 73 up to 86 chevy truck suspensions are a bolt in. On the 63 thru 66's you can get away with using the spindles and the A arms only. But since your truck has a torsion bar suspension its not as simple. I think you can just swap the whole cross member and be done with it. I read in here some where that someone had to drill two holes and elongate two more to make it work. You will also need to make sure your rear brake cylinders are up to snuff and get the valve that serves as a check valve and the one that distributes the pressure to the front and back brakes. I'm not sure what you will choose to do about your master cyclinder. I have been thinking about getting a remote brake booster like the ones used on the 50 models, to keep it simple under the hood on my 60 model. I just can't make up my mind about giving up my Torsion bar suspension. I like being able to raise or lower the front end with a ratchet and socket. It may be I'm just partial to the prime evil way, there not much of that left around these days, sort of like those big old ugly hoods, they just say get the H-- out of the way, coming through!
