Can any body out there tell me which hood emblem originally goes on the 1960 hood? I had a guy tell me today that there are two different emblems. One for a V8 and one for the 6cyl. I thought that the 1960 emblem was just a Chevy emblem and the 1961 was a Chevy emblem with a chrome V under the emblem.
Hey Apache. My '60 just has the chevy emblem on the front of the original hood. It has the 235 six-banger. I am not sure about there being 2 different emblems though. Daryl
Apache-- I have an 1961 Apache that I am restoring and I have always been told by several parts people that the V-8 had the bow tie emblem and the 6 cyl. had the emblem with a V. I am going to try to find it in the manuel tonight.
Hey guys: I've owned a 1961 Apache 6 cyl. years ago and I'm currently working on a 1960 Apache 6 cyl. The emblem on the very front of the hoods were the same...a bowtie. However the '61 had an additional emblem on each side of the hood that read "Apache 10". My '60 has emblems on each fender that read "Chevrolet Apache 10". Hope this helps
I wonder if the guy was confusing the emblems used on Chevy cars of similar vintage. The '56 thru '60 Chevies had a V under the bowtie hood emblem to denote a V8??? My '60 Apache short fleetside has just the bowtie on the hood but I can't vouch for originality. It came with a 283. Tom in Steamboat '60 Apache (nice!)
